TOHO) specializes in women’s history tours, book talks, and virtual experiences. In partnership with Emons Verlag, our team published the book 111 Places in Women's History That You Must Not Miss in Washington, DC.
TOHO Mission: To elevate women’s stories into a more prominent place in American history and culture.
A Tour Of Her Own reframes and rethinks traditional history. Our team integrates the challenges and contributions of women into our narratives through storytelling. TOHO is committed to providing an educational experience that is approachable, relatable, and transformative.
TOHO Vision: To create a sustainable culture of women’s tourism in Washington, DC and beyond. We embrace guided tourism because of its unique ability to ignite social change.
A Tour Of Her Own hosts programs that nurture the exchange of ideas, traditions, and experiences as a way to foster connections. We invest in partnerships with women-owned businesses, freelancers, leaders, creatives, and innovators to support the sustainability of our communities.
TOHO Core Values: Education, Mindfulness, and Civic Engagement:
TOHO believes in education outside of the classroom. We manifest this passion through tourism and virtual services. Our walking tours stimulate both body and mind while searching for deeper symbolism in the spaces around us. Our educational programs promote social justice and encourage civic engagement.
TOHO Herstory: This social entrepreneurship was founded in 2018 by licensed tour guide, Kaitlin Calogera, after years of seeing a lack of women’s representation in history and public spaces.
Kaitlin mobilized a team who collectively turned this vision into a sustainable venture. Together, members of the TOHO community have revolutionized the tourism industry. Since our inception in July 2018, A Tour Of Her Own has hosted several major single day events in downtown DC, a bus tour to Maryland focused on Harriet Tubman, introduced a rotation of a dozen unique tours centered on women’s history, and established a strong social media and web presence promoting women’s history.
